  • Evert Director for Brian Smith Charity Bike Ride. Annual community ride in support Of YMCA Strong Kids, Halton Trauma Centre and Brian Smith Scholarship Fund held at Nelson High School in Burlington. Since 2009 we have raised $136,000.00 for our charities

RMT Mentor & Sports Injury Therapist
Erin Hastings, RMT

Erin Hastings graduated from the Canadian Therapeutic College in 2003 to attain registration in both Massage Therapy and Sports Injury Therapy. With her Sports Injury Therapy background Erin has the complete knowledge in the use of modalities, taping, bracing, rehabilitation exercises and stretches for all sports related and non-sports related injuries. In order to fully expand her qualifications even more, Erin has certifications in Hot Stone Massage, Spinning, Personal training and fitness consulting. In her spare time, Erin trains to compete every summer as a tri-athlete. .

Our certified Swim Coach provides indoor swim stroke improvement coaching through Masters Swim at the Burlington YMCA or through our triathlon specific swim stroke improvement program through Second Wind Conditioning.

Personal best times: Marathon (2hr,35min), 100 miles (23hr,48min), 50 miles (7hr,25min), 10k (32min,20sec), 5k (16min,8sec), 1 Mile (4min,20sec), Around the Bay Race (1hr,49min) 2010- ½ marathon- placing 2nd in age group category or 268 overall (out of 17,102 participants)

Michelle Martin

I am an outdoor enthusiast in my work and personal life. As a zoologist I am always out romping around studying animals and their habitat, and in my free time I love hiking, canoeing, rock climbing, snow boarding, you name it I do it! Jack (or Jill) of all trades! At age 16 I became a trampoline coach and opened up my own club with my sister a couple of years later, so I have always been interested in sport and coaching.  It's this love of doing many different things, being active and outside that first peaked my interest in triathlon.  Having a bit of background in competitive swimming as a youngster and mountain biking it was time to try road biking and the dreaded...running....
Triathlon has given me an amazing focus in life for my fitness training, mental state and making great inspiring friends along the way. For me it is a great balance of 3 sports that's keep your body balanced and your mind interested. As much as triathlon is an individual sport I always feel like I'm in a team thanks to groups like Nancy's and that's what keeps me addicted and actually now like running!
Sports certifications: certified coach under British gymnasts and gymnastics Canada for trampolining and artistic gymnastics, certified in YMCA cyclefit, group resistance and aquafit and MOSSA group power.    I teach at the YMCA Ron Edwards (Burlington) branch and Niagara west (Grimsby) and as a volunteer and an employee.
I have competed in sprints, relay, Olympic and half ironman distances. Some of the races I've done : Guelph 2, iron girl, Syracuse half ironman, Niagara women's half marathon

Years of cycling training and coaching provides JP with a unique perspective of each rider and their abilities. He provides guidance, knowledge and support to help all our athletes meet their goals.
